La noció de l'ús en la planificació lingüística de l'ensenyament

The article starts by defending the appropriateness of adopting the concept of language planning in education in order to overcome the theoretical and practical limitations inherent in the term bilingual education. Having clarified the scope of the discipline, the author analyzes the little attention paid by specialists to aspects related to language usage, and puts forward some possible explanations for this oversight. In an attempt to mitigate the difficulties involved in making this concept operative, the author proposes the incorporation of the concept of the language usage standard as a tool for assessment, and discusses by way of example the study of usage in the assessment of the model for language conjunction in Catalan, widely used at present in Catalonia.
